10th Year Anniversary: Summer 2007 FLASHBACK!

The Central Florida Ballet Academy was founded in 2000 by Vasile Petrutiu and Orlando's Ballerina, Heather Sanders-Fryxell. They have since inspired many dancers to go onto professional careers and continue to teach our future generation. To celebrate the 10th Year Anniversary, we are revisiting past performances!

CFB to present World Ballet Competition 2011!

Photo By: Virginia Trudeau & Deedee Sherman
Its THE summer event you've been waiting for! For the fifth consecutive year, the Central Florida Ballet will once again host the World Ballet Competition in Orlando, Florida, USA. Since its 2007 inauguration, the WBC has since generated over 1.5 million views via YouTube.com and LiveStream.com, multi-page layouts in magazines including Dance For You (based in Europe), and most importantly an enthusiastic audience who are astounded by talent seen in each event!

The idea for the World Ballet Competition came with the intent to build support for the performing arts by making it more enticing to Americans. In the summer of 2007, Vasile Petrutiu (Founder and General Director of the Central Florida Ballet) inaugurated the World Ballet Competition. Petrutiu added unique elements to generate audience interest which include, an instantaneous computerized scoring system, live online broadcast, and drawing of numbers by each competitor the day before competition rounds encompass WBC’s unique features, unheard in other ballet competitions. The World Ballet Competition concludes with the "All Stars of Dance" performance which features winning competitors among the dance world's biggest stars - and is the most popular among every attendee.

This year the WBC will be held from May 30 - June 4 at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center in Orlando, Florida. Be sure to tell your friends, family, and any arts supporter!

More information will be coming on all of the WBC's programs and events! So be sure to check back soon to get all of the exclusive details!

Thursday Quote!

Dance means something different to every dancer, parent, teacher and audience member. See what others think and add a comment of what dance means to you below.

”You don't have to know about ballet to enjoy it,
all you have to do is look at it.”

- Edwin Denby

"Try to be fearless, because fear can inhibit you and
keep you from a life." - Miranda Weese (New York City Ballet)

"A lot of people insisted on a wall between
modern dance and ballet.
I'm beginning to think walls are very unhealthy things."
-Twyla Tharp

"It's what I always wanted to do, to show the
laughter, the fun, the joy of dance." - Martha Graham
